We are hosting an AI Art Contest leading up to Maker Faire Orlando on November 5 & 6, to encourage you to share how you use these tools and techniques to create amazing, inspiring art!

Display of Eligible entries at Maker Faire Orlando - Saturday, November 5 & Sunday, November 6 Artist does not need to be present at Maker Faire Orlando to enter the contest.
A single image that used AI art tools somewhere in the process of creating the image. The image may use any additional techniques for its creation.
A short artist statement / description of the work.
A short video (1 to 3 minutes in length) showing the process of creating the submitted image. Video should be 1080p format provided with a link that allows downloading the video at full quality. See this example video on Reddit for inspiration, but this exact format is not required, be creative in telling your story.
Entries will only be accepted through the Submission Form which will close automatically at the submission deadline.
Please ensure you have read all rules and requirements at the bottom of this page before entering.
Limit three entries per person or team. If more than three entries are received, only the first three will be considered eligible entries.
An individual or team may only win ONE award in the overall contest (1st, 2nd, 3rd Place). Additional awards (Best Process Video) may be awarded to an overall winner.
Entries must not have been previously entered in another contest or competition.
Each Entry should be a single image. If an entry contains multiple images, they will be evaluated as a single artistic work.
Entries must relate to the and be related in some way to the types of makers, creations, passions, and values found at Maker Faire.
Entries must be the express work of the individual or team submitting (and their AI helpers!).
Entries must use AI art tools as part of a larger creative process. While creative prompt generation can create amazing images, we are looking for more than simple prompt image generation.
Any items entered into the contest may be reproduced or photographed and used by the The Maker Effect Foundation (TMEF) for display on TMEF websites, at Maker Faire Orlando, for event marketing purposes, or for grant submission and reporting purposes.
Exhibit submissions shall not infringe on any trademarks or copyrights.
The art style shall not intentionally imitate the style of another artist. This includes, but is not limited to the use of an artists name (e.g. "in the style of") in an AI image generator prompt, or the specific training of an AI tool using a specific artist's work.
Do not use or place any logos in the artwork, including the Maker Faire Orlando Logo, Maker Faire Logo, any exhibitor logos or any Sponsor logos.
Do not base the artwork on any specific exhibit, exhibitor, or sponsor of Maker Faire Orlando.
Submission text and video must be in English for judging.
Judges are subject to change at any time without notice.
Decisions of the judges will be final.
All entries will be displayed at a family-friendly event. Entries shall not contain nudity, gore, or adult subjects.
If at the time of judging, there are less than 10 eligible entries, judging will not take place and prizes will not be awarded.
Contest entrants must be 18 years of age or older to accept the Participation agreement. A Team may contain a team member under the age of 18, however the entry must be submitted by someone from that team who is 18 years of age or older.
The Maker Effect Foundation reserves the right to reject any entry not considered suitable for display or being in non-compliance with these rules and regulations.
Q: Do I need to exhibit at Maker Faire Orlando to enter this contest? A: This contest is open to any participant, there is no requirement to be in Orlando, or to attend the event, however if you would like to exhibit your AI Art at Maker Faire Orlando, please email us at email@example.com as soon as possible.
Q: Can the video have narration or sound? A: Yes, but please limit music (and no copyrighted music).
Q: Can an image be submitted directly from an AI art engine? A: We are not accepting simple prompt output. Please submit entries where you have used the AI art engine as part of a larger creative process.
Q: Can entrants be present at the AI Art display as part of Maker Faire Orlando? A: Maker Faire Orlando tickets will be provided for entrant + a guest to Maker Faire Orlando upon request. In-person participation at Maker Faire Orlando is not required to enter the contest.
