As two self proclaimed geeks who love fan art, we often found that the art we would see at cons would be out of our price range. We decided we would try to make art that was still high quality but more affordable. Most of our art pieces range from $15 - $25. All of our paper art is digitally designed, cut out of paper, and them assembled by hand very carefully with a little bit of glue and sometimes tweezers. This makes each piece a unique work of art! We also make a variety of vinyl decals and various housewares using premium quality outdoor vinyl.

Hel Hound is a 15lb horizontal spinner combat robot.
Stop by to build an aluminum boat with the help of Southwest Middle School students. Then test your newly constructed boat by seeing how much "cargo" it can bear. If your boat is still floating after adding the maximum load you will earn a small prize. Also check out some of the projects that students designed and built in their STEM Project Lead the Way classes this year.

We strongly believe in the benefits of the FIRST programs as they have been able to spark interest in engineering and science in our own community. We would love to demo our robot for those at the Maker Faire, as this would be an amazing opportunity for our students to share their excitement for science, technology, engineering, and math with the Faire's attendees! For our exhibit, we will bring our previous season's robot for demonstrations and viewing as several toys the team has adapted to benefit members of the local community who are in need of assistive technology.
Take it a-part! The Orlando Science Center will allow guests of Maker Faire Orlando to take a-part all their old electronics, and see what makes the world work! We are excited to allow guests to use tools and creativity to mine the wonders that hide inside everyday electronics. We are Hagerty Robotics from Oviedo, Florida. GyroSphero is a student created, Jurassic World themed obstacle course designed specifically with the Sphero 2.0 spherical robot in mind! Equipped with remote controlled Spheros, Orlando Makers will be challenged to traverse the course to the finish line as they try to beat our automated Sphero bot, coded by our very own students!
Queen Victoria instituted this noble sport amongst her ladies in waiting for her sheer amusement. Come participate in demos to get you registered for a double elimination duel (Brandenburg Variations on the Hanoverian Parasol Dueling Rules will be employed), street dueling and figure competition. (You are about to participate in a non-strategic game of rock-paper-scissors with a parasol done in the style of a turn of the century pistol duel). So bring your parasol/umbrella/bumpershoot, or borrow one of ours, to learn this delicate sport and compete to win a handmade prize.

Team Miles is a leading competitor in the NASA CubeQuest Challenge. The challenge offers $5.5 million in prizes for teams and will provide launch services on the 2018 NASA SLS-EM1 mission for the top three teams. They are building a 6U CubeSat intended to orbit the moon and travel to deep space to the vicinity of Mars.

The Photo and Stamp exhibit focuses on the artist's ability to capture the beauty in everyday life through mixed media compositions. Each unique piece ranges from matted 3-Dimensional photo cards to jewelry to functional artwork, such as coasters, wine charm rings, and even birdhouses.
Students from 3D Animation and Simulation will show digital products including virtual reality, games, animation and simulations. Participants will be able to try out virtual reality and see 3D printed models and tools.

The Boca Bearings 3D Body Scanner is an all in one solution for 3D scanning. The subject stands on a rotating platform while a Microsoft Kinect (generation 1) sits on a rail which can be moved up or down to capture a whole body as the subject rotates in place.

Allen has been designing and building projects at Moonlighter Makerspace for over two years - He will be exhibiting modified Nerf Guns, 3D printed prototypes, furniture, and other projects he's worked. Last year he featured his Mobile Reading Pod at Maker Faire Orlando, a full size roving library and lounge furniture piece designed and built for the Miami International Book Fair. Ra Kura is the Florida Base of the Rebel Legion – a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans. Formed in 2000, the Rebel Legion is a global volunteer organization of enthusiasts who enjoy, express, and share their interest of quality Star Wars costuming with the fan community.
ChipScapes are artworks made from taking pictures of microscopic computer chips. By using special lighting and angles, bright colors are created to make interesting art. ChipScapes include the chip images, history of the chips, and the actual chips themselves. My jewelry sometimes uses upcycled old electronic parts, sometimes my ChipScapes artwork (see below), and sometimes both. SteamTronix borrows from Steam Punk, Cyber Punk, and Art Deco styles. The illuminated mind is a dome art installation featuring an illuminated dome at the top of a giant head that can be entered through the mouth.
Splendid Teapot Racing involves radio-controlled teapots negotiating an obstacle course within a set time. The vehicle is simply a teapot of the entrants' choice attached to a radio-controlled car, truck or tank and embellished to taste. Keeping the size of vehicles within the limits stated in the rules helps ensure a fairer and more entertaining contest. The teapot doesn't still have to function as a teapot!

We are a group of students from Lyman High School, an engineering magnet. We built a solar-powered robot optimized for disaster response scenarios. Development of this product first started when we competed in the Florida Solar Energy Center Solar Innovations competition, but we had so much fun we decided to continue development outside of the competition.

Heavyweight Combat Robot from Holiday, FL
We are SCORE, a volunteer non-profit organization. SCORE was founded as the Service Corps of Retired Executives. We are now known just by the acronym SCORE. SCORE’s mission is to counsel new business owners, businesses who are ready to grow and businesses who are floundering and need help righting the ship. We also offer a series of seminars on how to run a business to help train new business owners and those who are still in the start-up phase. SCORE is one of the best kept secrets in town…and the best part is our counseling is FREE! We do charge a nominal fee for our seminars. Our offices are located at the NEC center in Fashion Square on East Colonial. Our goal for having a booth at the Maker Faire is to create more awareness about SCORE in the general public in the Orlando area. We intend to have a Corn Hole game for the kids while we talk to the parents.

Electrathon of America is an Electric Vehicle (EV) competition where participants learn to design and build electric vehicles they race. Mulberry High School from Polk County is participating in the Tampa League and we would like to encourage teams to form in Orlando area. This would enable schools in Tampa and Orlando to inter-compete with one another.

Our exhibit consists of a 10ft X 10ft portable 3D scanner and sample displays. We offer onsite 3D scans of practically any subject that can hold a stationary pose for the 1 second scanning time. The product is a software generated 3D file that can later be printed in to a life-like full color 3D miniature of the subject. No figurines are produced on site.

The Iron Man Project was conceived as a way to use the process of cosplay to teach S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) at Nerd Nite. With the project, we will be building a wearable replica of the Iron Man armor [as seen in the films] and document the process to form a presentation that teaches the DIY process that we’ve created. Maker Faire is the perfect venue for the initial debut of the Iron Man Project.
Using only a few given supplies, build a free-standing structure as tall as possible.
We will have our normal array of fighting robots, but we'd also like to setup a table where people can come get pictures with Kraken and ask questions about the 2018 BattleBots tournament.

The “3d Mechanical Hand – Maker Movement” that was inspired by two strangers (a prop maker from the USA and a carpenter from South Africa) that came together from 10,000 miles apart – to create a prosthetic hand device for a small child in South Africa …and then gave the plans away – for free…so that those in need of the device could make them for themselves or have someone make it for them. What originally started out as a couple of guys who created something to help one child in need…has grown into a world wide movement of tinkerers, engineers, 3D print enthusiasts, occupational therapists, university professors, designers, parents, families, artists, students, teachers and people who just want to make a difference.

Combat Robots
Boca Bearings converted a standard Power Wheels into a Racing Power Wheels to participate in the Power Racing Series. The Power Racing Series is a series of races where teams race each other with power wheels that they have modified to go much faster than their stock speed. The series also includes an endurance race of 75 minutes. It's a series where people can learn new things and skills and to simply have fun.
