🧋 RUN YOUR OWN BOBA SHOP

Run Your Own Boba Shop is a hands-on food science, STEM, and entrepreneurship experience where participants become the makers and create their own boba drink from beginning to end. Start with a color-changing cup and watch what happens when ice is added. Measure the ice and liquid using marked portions while exploring temperature, volume, ratios, and consistency. Next, discover the science of boba by comparing chewy tapioca pearls with bursting popping boba. How can two little spheres look similar but have completely different textures and structures? Then it’s time to become the boba maker! Choose your boba, assemble your drink, and follow a simple production process to complete your creation. Finally, turn your creation into your own product by personalizing a “_____’s Boba Shop” label and adding it to your finished cup. Makers can then stop at our self-serve photo station to photograph what they created. Through one fun and familiar drink, participants explore food science, measurement, math, process design, creativity, branding, and entrepreneurship. Don’t just drink it—MAKE IT! 🧋

Asia Kitchen is a local, family-run food and catering business with nearly 20 years of experience creating food experiences for schools, families, and community events throughout Central Florida. As a food maker and small-business owner, I have always been fascinated by the science, creativity, and problem-solving behind everyday food. For Maker Faire Orlando, I want to share that curiosity with young makers through boba—showing that making isn’t limited to robots, electronics, or traditional crafts. Food can also be a hands-on way to explore science, measurement, process design, creativity, and entrepreneurship. My goal is to give kids the experience of not simply buying a product, but understanding it, creating it, and personalizing something of their own
