Steel in Action: Armored Combat by Florida Armored Combat

Florida Armored Combat is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds, trains, and competes in buhurt, the full contact sport of medieval armored combat. Our fighters wear real steel armor, most of it fitted, repaired, and modified by the fighters themselves, and fight with blunted steel weapons under a modern rule set and supervised safety standards.
FAC is a statewide network of nine teams, including the Orlando Rogue Knights, Tampa Swamp Knights, Jacksonville Guards, Gainesville Swamp Dragons, Tallahassee River Raiders, Fort Lauderdale Storm, SunForged Knights, and Bayou Brutes, plus collegiate programs such as the UCF Golden Knights. We run tournaments, public demonstrations, charity fights, and team training across Florida.
We are Action and Education. Every fight we put on is also a lesson in metallurgy, engineering, physical training, and history, and every member has a role: Knight, Squire, Chronicler, Herald, Artisan, or Supporter.

Florida Armored Combat (FAC) is a non-profit sports organization and governing body dedicated to the practice, promotion, and growth of Buhurt (full-contact medieval armored combat) across the state of Florida. Unlike staged reenactments or choreographed theatrical combat, FAC events feature real, unscripted martial arts competition where fighters wear historically accurate steel armor and wield blunted steel weapons. Knights Champion – Our Civic Duty Our Knights Champion Initiative is our commitment to civic duty. Each Knight and Squire may choose to champion up to three causes, charities, or non-profit organizations. Through their prestige, they actively bring awareness to these important efforts and share why each cause holds personal significance to them. Our Accomplishments Collegiate Buhurt Development We are the proud sponsor of the first collegiate buhurt club in the United States, the Golden Knight Armored Combat Club at the University of Central Florida! More colleges and universities to join… Education Be it the lore and allure of medieval history, or a deeper understanding of the core sciences of chemistry and physics that make blacksmithing possible, we have specialists who can educate anyone interested in these subjects. Acquiring New Partnerships For any organization, establishing solid partnerships is paramount for reliable growth and longevity. We are proud to be aligned with an increasing number of established businesses, volunteer organizations, and other non-profit entities. New Team Growth Expanding from the original three founding teams (Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, & Tampa), we now have teams in Naples, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Pensacola, and Jacksonville. Panama City Beach is soon to come online. Technology Utilization Using technology properly helps to reduce the cost of operation, which invests more human and financial capital to where it needs to be; into the community and the sport. We leverage Free and Open Source software to accomplish our mission.
