Maker Faire Orlando is produced by The Maker Effect Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity with a simple mission: to activate and amplify the efforts of makers as they learn, build, and work together in their communities.

None of our roles require prior experience. We’re looking for passionate people who want to make a difference, and we’ll train you on everything else. Show up curious, and we’ll take it from there.
The Roles in Detail
What each role actually does, and who tends to love it.
Field Trip Day Producer
Field Trip Day is when Maker Faire Orlando opens its doors to thousands of local students for a day built entirely around hands-on discovery. The Field Trip Day Producer helps make that day run.
You’ll handle general production tasks for Field Trip Day and coordinate closely with the producers running the rest of the event, making sure the pieces fit together and the day goes smoothly for every school group that walks in.
Great for: someone who loves logistics, enjoys working as part of a team, and wants to see the direct impact of their work on thousands of curious kids.
Stage Manager
The Maker Faire Orlando stage seats 200 to 300 people and delivers some of the most memorable content of the whole weekend: moderated panels on maker topics like cosplay, theme park makers, BattleBots teams from TV, and more.
The Stage Manager helps schedule the content for the stage, works directly with all the talent, and coordinates with the AV team to keep everything running. It’s air-conditioned work at the center of the action, and it helps create amazing Maker Faire memories for students on Field Trip Day and for participants all weekend long.
Great for: an organized people-person who likes keeping a show on schedule and enjoys being where the energy is.
Volunteer Coordinator
Our volunteers are the reason the weekend works, and the Volunteer Coordinator helps make sure their experience is a great one.
You’ll work alongside our volunteer lead to care for the hundreds of volunteers who power the event across the weekend, helping them feel welcomed, supported, and set up to succeed in whatever they’re doing.
Great for: a warm, organized people-person who takes real satisfaction in making sure everyone around them is happy and looked after.
A Booked Weekend Is No Barrier
Already planning to attend or exhibit? You can still pitch in. We have plenty of ways to help before the event and in the days right after, so even a full weekend doesn’t have to keep you off the crew. Reach out and we’ll find something that fits around your plans.
Only Have a Few Hours?
You don’t have to take on a whole role to make a difference. If you’ve only got a few hours over the weekend, our standard volunteer shifts are a perfect way to jump in and help.
